Monster Blast - Mobile Game

I was the UI, character, and game designer for this interactive first-person shooter, developed in collaboration with a well-known BB gun company. The project integrated their new technology - combining real-world BB target packs with a mobile camera. I helped facilitate user focus group testing on various concepts—including aliens, monsters, and robots—to determine the most engaging direction, then illustrating and designing the characters, backgrounds, and UI components, ensuring a cohesive and immersive player experience.

 
 
 
 

Character design

I sketched a wide variety of character concepts, ensuring they had large enough target areas for effective gameplay while also being able to sit naturally in different spots within the environment. game's overall appeal.

Environment Design

I explored various environmental designs that would work on a flat real-world target board while incorporating logical placements for obstacles and shields to enhance gameplay. I also ensured a high enough color contrast between the targets and backgrounds, optimizing visibility so the mobile camera could accurately differentiate between them.

Gameplay Desigm

With all the components in place, I used the established aesthetic to shape the overall UI of the mobile game app, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience. I applied high-contrast visuals and vibrant colors to enhance readability and make interactions feel dynamic and exciting. The UI design maintained the game's playful and fun tone, reinforcing the immersive world while keeping navigation intuitive and visually appealing.
